A social media plan is a very important part of your overall marketing strategy. It keeps you on track, as there are many distractions that can suck up your valuable time and although you may appear to be busy you end up focusing on the wrong areas.

The following 5 tips are what I consider to be crucial when developing a social media plan.

Success Tip 1.Have A Clear Social Media Marketing Strategy To Follow.

By having a clear easy to follow social media marketing strategy in place keeps you on track, as there are many distractions that can suck up your valuable time and although you may appear to be busy you end up focusing on the wrong areas.Your main focus for your social media  plan should include: Researching and writing content on good lead generating keywords that are relevant to the niche. Implementing good seo and syndication strategies to ensure you get your content ranked on the top pages of the search engines. Social media platforms lend themselves well for doing just this. They are designed for users to share and syndicate any content they find interesting and informative to their friends and colleagues.

Success Tip 2.

Be Consistent. Sure it is important to know who your target market is, what their needs and wants are. But if you don’t get the consistent interaction going by posting great content, and interacting with other members posts then you really don’t get your social media campaign off the ground to achieve the level of success you really desire. You need to be doing this on a consistent basis.

Success Tip3.

Give it Time another important point to remember is to have realistic expectations when implementing your social media for business is that to many people give up before they have actually given themselves a realistic time frame to succeed. 6 weeks is a realistic time period to start really seeing the results. It literally takes that long to build the trust and credibility you need to attract a large following and have others like and trust you enough to want to share your content with their contacts.

Back links: A crucial part of your social media plan is Back linking, When posting your value driven content be sure to put a link back to your blog and also one to your capture page. Not only will this give you the opportunity to capture your reader as a lead and send them more value based content but will also give your web page a valuable back link from the social networking site you are posting on. By having these links Google and other search engines will rank your content higher on their search engines.

Success Tip5.

Syndication.:Utilize social book marking sites to share your content. Only wire.com has both a free and paid social book marking service for its members. As you get cracking with your social media plan you may want to opt for the paid service. You first need to set up the 35 or so social networking channels that it posts to. This can be quite time consuming but is definitely worth the effort. Also download their social bookmark and share tool bar to your browser this makes submitting content to them quick and easy .By utilizing this service you are going to create a ton of valuable back links from some of the highest page ranked social media sites on the internet.

In Summary: Your social media plan doesn’t need to be complicated.

Be sure to consistently producing high quality content that your target market is looking for and don’t blatantly spam one sentence ads all over the place as I see happening quite a lot on Face book these days.

Look for one who can offer you  a proven social media plan  to follow until you get some experience under your belt, this can save you a of time and money on the outset of your marketing campaign.
