The Internet is a medium we use to sell products.The basis of someone finding our products is to use “keywords”

Here are some of the “tools of our trade”.

How do you attract prospects on the World Wide Web?

What is the WWW?

The World Wide Web (www) is the equivalent of the most comprehensive, library that has ever existed.

Anything you could ever want to know about anything, you can find on the internet .People find what they are looking for by entering a query or keyword into the search bar.

Because of the vast and ever changing nature of the Web, without some way of locating the information you are

looking for, you would never find it.

This is where the Search Engines come into play.

Search Engines – What are they?

Google, Yahoo, AOL Search, Ask, Alltheweb, Hotbot, Altavista and MSN are all Search Engines that go to work for

you, looking all over the Web for information. But we have to give the instructions to find what we want.

This is where “key words” fit in.Key Words are the instructions we give the Search Engines to go and find the

information we are looking for. Search Engines, like Google, use a program called a Spider to achieve this (named

because it crawls all over the Web, just like a spider) – this program is also sometimes called Webcrawler.

When we type our key words into the search field, the search engines send their “spiders” all over the Web, looking

for the key words you have typed in. This process is a constant one.

The Search Engine then “indexes” the information the spiders retrieve,according to a number of factors such as:

Key Words, Content, Links, Quality of Links,  Activity on your Pages.

So just like in a library, the information is indexed in such a way that it makes what you are looking for easy to

find.

So What you need to understand if you want to get your message out there is internet land is how to make it simple

for people to find what it is you are promoting  by targeting your message to specific keywords .This not only makes it easier for the viewer to find your content but it also keeps the google spiders happy because you are making there job easier.

First and foremost, Google is a business, and it makes money when business people advertise online, either using

Pay Per Click, or some of the other paid forms of advertising.

But in order for Google to stay in business, its primary responsibility is to keep searchers happy, rather than

advertisers.

If searchers successfully find the information they are looking for on Google (i.e. Google consistently provides

them with relevant information), then searchers will continue to use Google as their preferred search engine.

So its a win win.

Your job as a marketer is to be focused on the keyword relevence of your content,thus allowing your searchers and

the search engines to find you amongst the millions of pages of information in the search engines.

What Can An Egg Timer Do For Your Business?

I have many different things going on, and when I need to

get a LOT of work done, very fast, one of the most

effective ways of doing this, is to use a timer.

I have a little white square digital timer sitting here on

my desk right in front of me, that counts down time,

backwards, from any length of time I set it to, down to

zero.

So for example, when I’m writing my monthly offline

newsletter, Seductive Selling, and I need to get stuff

done, rapidly… I’ll set that timer to 30 minutes.  Then,

I literally won’t move or get up or look at e-mail or surf

the web or do anything other than write my newsletter,

until that timer hits “zero,” and the alarm goes off.

Now don’t get me wrong, that 30 minutes is like 30 minutes

of hell.  No different than running or swimming for 30

minutes straight with literally no stopping for breath.

But what you’re going to get done in that time-frame, will

typically far surpass anything else you’re going to get

done in the same time-frame without using this timer

technique.

Remember, the things that separate the student who graduates

from college with a 3.8 average, and the student who

graduates with a 3.5 average, are very subtle.  Certain

ways of studying, certain methods of recalling information

that would otherwise be undetectable by the untrained eye.

And business is no different.  It’s these little subtle

actions that differentiate the people who are incredibly

prolific and successful, and the people who are doing “ok,”

but who never seem to be able to get things off the ground

the way they have the potential to.

This “timer technique” is one of these subtleties, so I

suggest you use it. It allows me to get multiple things

done, quickly and quietly, and incredibly efficiently.

We’re into our fourth year of publishing Seductive Selling,

and it’s never been late or sloppy.  And I’ve never put out

an issue that was “a little under par.”

I have just finished listening to a webinair with Simon Sineck ,speaker and author of “Start With Why”.

rom the Pentagon, to the United Nations, to Hollywood. Simon has been invited to talk about The Golden Circle across the United States and around the world. He advises a wide of variety of leaders and organizations, including small businesses and entrepreneurs, corporations like Microsoft, non-profits, government and politicians

We as business owners and entrepreneurs get caught up with the what we do’s and how we do its, when according to Simon the human brain has two separate areas ,one for thought and decision making and the other for speech ,it is feelings of trust and loyalty that infuences us to make decisions.Its the winning of peoples trust that earns peoples loyalty that ultimatley makes you successful as we follow people or organisations who lead not because we have to but because we want to.

This reminds me of when I was hairdressing and owned a salon.I had done some personal development and one of the objectives was to write out my mission statement .I wrote about how our pledge was to give every client who visited a positive memorable experience.I had this made into a large star shaped plaque this hung in the middle of the salon and was when I think back our “why”.

It was interesting as I had alot of feeback from clients about the pledge and I feel the girls lived by it with their great attitude and work ethic.

Simon also says that businesses funtion like a social community ,people who belive in you will work for blood sweet and tears those that dont will work for you for money. Leaders hold the position of power and influence but those who “lead” inspire us we follow them not because we have to but because we want to.
