Have You Thought About Why Having Your Personal Brand Might Be Important?

What can you do to not get lost among the millions of sites online and be seen and more importantly remembered?

Over the last 2 years I have been an apprentice to this fast, ever-changing world of Internet marketing world and I think what has stuck me the most is the importance of having an image or brand that will be remembered by the viewer when they fly quickly through the tons and tons of social media and search content available to them at the click of a mouse.

The ones have stayed in my memory well have been the ones that have personally associated themselves with either a company brand/ logo/image or a catch phrase that makes it easy to remember them by.

So I ask you? Do I think that having your own personal brand is important to your business? I say Hell Yes!

Branding can be both simple and yet still powerful. Take the infamous Nike symbol for instance. It has been said that a villager from a small remote tribe in Africa had identified it, as one of the cameramen was wearing a Nike t-shirt. The villager pointed at the symbol and identified it as Nike, Now if that isn’t global brand recognition I don’t know what is.

Steps To Creating Your Own Personal Brand You really want to start by thinking about how you want your peers to perceive you. Branding yourself is the very one thing that makes you remembered for being you and they way you present yourself and your personal brand to the world is totally in your control. Make sure that it signifies what do you stand for and believe in. This will ultimately become the foundation for your own personal brand

Select Your Area Of Expertise. Having a special talent should be used well as a brand. What is it that you want to do to make your brand unique? What do you want to be remembered for? Example: Number 1 Expert, Top Search Engine Specialist, Expert On Social Media

Create A Want. Your goal is to have your client’s think/believe that by making the choice to follow your personal brand that it will make a huge difference to their lives. The flow on effect of this is it in turn will build brand loyalty and word of mouth advertising for you. Create a catch phrase/statement or symbol that represents you and your brand. Example: Gold pine…”Servicing the industry for 35 years”, McDonald’s…”the big “M”", Briscoe’s…”you’ll never buy better”.

Can you remember and sing some of those annoying little jingles that a lot of seemingly successful companies use again and again in their advertising just to drive you nuts! But they are definitely memorable are they not?

The catch phrase I have used to promote my personal brand is”Your shining light through the internet maze to success” That’s what I want people to think of and remember me for.

The Next Step…. you’re turn. Put your thinking cap on and start brainstorming some ideas on paper. Don’t try to get it right first time around just start with ideas on what you would like your personal brand to look like.

Don’t worry it might not come to you straight away but believe me when I say that your ever busy subconscious mind will quietly work away at it even while you sleep. Give it some time it is an important decision and you can change your mind more than once. Just plant the seeds. You will know when you have found the right fit for you.

What Can An Egg Timer Do For Your Business?

 30 minutes in hell… a lifetime in heaven.

You’re responsible for everything including selling…

marketing… computers… employees… product

development… and paying taxes, just to name a few.

And while most people think the key to getting everything

done is managing time, this is a myth.  In fact, nothing

can be further from the truth.

See, you can’t manage time, any more than you can manage

gravity, right?

But you can manage yourself and you can manage what gets

your attention.

Meaning, what to give your attention to, determines what

gets done, your attention is what you should focus on

managing.

I have many different things going on, and when I need to

get a LOT of work done, very fast, one of the most

effective ways of doing this, is to use a timer.

I have a little white square digital timer sitting here on

my desk right in front of me, that counts down time,

backwards, from any length of time I set it to, down to

zero.

So for example, when I’m writing my monthly offline

newsletter, Seductive Selling, and I need to get stuff

done, rapidly… I’ll set that timer to 30 minutes.  Then,

I literally won’t move or get up or look at e-mail or surf

the web or do anything other than write my newsletter,

until that timer hits “zero,” and the alarm goes off.

Now don’t get me wrong, that 30 minutes is like 30 minutes

of hell.  No different than running or swimming for 30

minutes straight with literally no stopping for breath.

But what you’re going to get done in that time-frame, will

typically far surpass anything else you’re going to get

done in the same time-frame without using this timer

technique.

Remember, the things that separate the student who graduates

from college with a 3.8 average, and the student who

graduates with a 3.5 average, are very subtle.  Certain

ways of studying, certain methods of recalling information

that would otherwise be undetectable by the untrained eye.

And business is no different.  It’s these little subtle

actions that differentiate the people who are incredibly

prolific and successful, and the people who are doing “ok,”

but who never seem to be able to get things off the ground

the way they have the potential to.

This “timer technique” is one of these subtleties, so I

suggest you use it. It allows me to get multiple things

done, quickly and quietly, and incredibly efficiently.

We’re into our fourth year of publishing Seductive Selling,

and it’s never been late or sloppy.  And I’ve never put out

an issue that was “a little under par.”
