Have you ever written an article only to have it lost in the millions of articles in cyberspace ?

Did you ever wonder why some authors articles rank every time they touch the key board ?,

keywords researchWell I did to ,and I came across some training on the  research of keywords that answered the question that has been stumping me since my early days as a network marketer. If you don’t research your keyword and evaluate your chances of ranking on page 1 of google then you are really wasting your precious time and energy on even writing an article.

Keywords research is the number 1 important factor when looking to write an article and below are some vital guidelines to know before your fingers even touch the key pad.

How To research your keyword

  • Go to google’s free  keyword  research tool  keyword tool and put your keyword in “ “ and look at the search volume and competition .Ideally you want search volume to be around 1,500 searches per month .
  • Check out the competition .Make sure you have Alexa search bar on your browser .Ideally you don’t want the competition for your chosen keyword to be any more than 75,000.

To get the Alexa toolbar :
Go to alexa.com and download it .Just follow the steps when finished it will appear as ‘a’ with a small blue ruler under it at the top right hand side of your screen ,about where the bookmarks icon is.keywords research
Once your alexa icon is showing up go  to the web pages of the first 6 or so sites that have ranked on page one for the keyword you are focusing on.To do this you go to a webpage and then go up to the alexa icon and it will bring up the stats on the page.
Article directories will always rank highly so don’t count those.
Have a look at the competing sites and see what rankings they have for your keyword. The lower the rank the stronger the competition. For instance google.com is ranked number 1 and Youtube.com is ranked number 3 .

  • Note:Your overall goal for your website is to be ranked under 100,000 in the world and it can be done if you follow the system we lay out for you in WWP.
  • What does your target audience WANT to know?,Take your researched keywords and go to Yahoo answers and type it in to see what people are wanting to know about it.Youtube is another great source of research information gathering for your keyword.

If you are happy with the amount of competition you have you can then proceed to write your article based around the keyword/keywords you have researched and chosen. I have written an article on some important considerations when writing articles to view go to Article Writing Tips .

Here are some more important keyword tips also to consider.

  • For a 200-300 word article you should only use your chosen keyword about 4 -5 times

Definitely in the title and in the first and last sentence.

  • When you choose your keyword look at the words under it that google has bought up.These similar words are called LSI words you can use these words in your article as much as you wish and they will go towards helping lift your ranking.

Another Keywords Research  tool I have found to be very good at keeping me on track with my article writing is called seopressor.com it is a plug for wordpress sites that you have to pay for but it has seriously helped  my google rankings .keywords research

It works by having achecklist on the right hand side of your blog post and it will give you a score for both your overall article as well as the keywords you are using.

And its not an affiliate product either so  there is no gain for me for promoting it apart from saying that you should have it.

I wish you all the best in your article writing endeavours

And I hope you have learned some valuable tips on keywords research that you can take away and implement for instant results for you rankings on google.
